I have shopped at your store for three decades. Please don’t leave. And no, the mayor has no right to steal your land. That’s not what eminent domain is supposed to be used for.

I definitely think it is a waste of our taxpayers money to widen Graham Road and at the cost of Krieger's parking lot that is important to all of us. What a great idea to simply repave ALL of Graham Road, instead of half this year and half next year. The conditions of the road is terrible and needs a complete repair, not just fixing up the holes. That would be worth spending our money

How dare the CFO government confiscate part of Krieger’s property?
Forget this “greater good” crap about widening the road. (IMHO) Our founding fathers would turn their in their graves
to hear of the government confiscating a citizens property.
Eminent Domain can be, and is, in the Krieger’s case,
stealing someone’s land.
I’ll bet Hudson would extend a warm welcome if Krieger’s considered moving there.
Overall, I believe that Mayor Robart and his team do a good job of running the city – BUT NOT IN THE KRIEGERS ISSUE!!

Have you considered what "grandfathered in" means? You were part of Northampton Township and your business location was "grandfathered in" when Cuyahoga Falls and Northampton merged in 1986. That should protect you from any changes the City wants to make to your parking lot which was there at the time of the merger. As quoted from the Merger Document:
Existing Uses:
Recognizing existing uses, any person or persons legally utilizing a premise as authorized under the Northampton Township Zoning Code and as approved or authorized under Conditional Use Certificate or variance as granted by the Northampton Township Board of Zoning Appeals shall legally be entitled to continue such use subject to any conditions imposed thereon, however, no such use shall be expanded, altered, or changed to a different use. Any use not legally operated th the time of the merger shall not be permitted or condoned. Any non-conforming legal existing use in conflict with the existing zoning shall be subject to Chapter 1143 Non-Conforming Use Regulations of the City of Cuyahoga Falls Zoning Code. January 1, 1986

The widening of Graham Road is not only unnecessary but wasteful in this time of economic hardship. To further burden businesses, taxpayers with expenses that will serve to only drive them out of the area posing a detriment to the city is, as strong as the word may be, criminal to say the least. The administration has lost site of their purpose, to support and develop the city to achieve success and thrive. Instead they are striving for loss by making poor decisions to widen and destroy a perfectly good road which handles traffic sufficiently and with a few adjustments to the traffic signals and repaving would be more accommodating to the heavier traffic flow. Krieger's Market has been a stop on our grocery runs for many years and to lose the wonderful service and great prices they offer would be a terrible loss. This is a family run business that takes care of its customers, services them with pride and respects their opinions. The goal of the administration should be to save money, save businesses, save families and keep the city thriving. Stop this project before it starts, re-examine the true needs for Graham Road, listen to the taxpayers.

I would like to not only echo the sentiments expressed by others with respect to the project but also say that the project seems fishy in its conception since it failed to inlcude PRIOR consultation with potentially affected businesses like the Krieger Store, who would be severely harmed by the eminent domain portion of the widening proposal. Could it be that this Mayor is trying to drive out the Kriegers for some personal or perceived governmental advantage? The Krieger Store, after all, is not some short-term business; rather, it is one of extreme longstanding and respectability that at a minimum deserved the benefit of pre-planning consultation, which likely would have resulted in adjustments to the funding applied for by the ostensible lead city, namely Stow. Better to lose the funding than destroy or force out the Krieger Store. If the coming Portage Crossings project includes a grocer, that will have a negative enough effect on nearby competing grocers, and it would be distinctly unfair for our government to do anything else that would negatively impact not only Kriegers, but any local stores (e.g., other grocers like Giant Eagle and Marc's) with which the Crossing stores would compete.
I have seen no ACCURATE evidence that supports the widening project. Traffic flows well enough, and the speed limit isn't going to be raised so anything but repair and repavement is a total waste of our tax dollars. We should all force this City to negate the proposal, even if it means a short term expense to get repairs accomplished.

There is good business from Giant Eagle up to Kriegers but beyond that there are too many empty buildings, especially where the Sears Hardware and Tops were. I am not noticing a traffic congestion problem that would require the lanes to be widened. I agree that all that needs done is paving and it needs to be done quickly.

I have only live in Stow for 12 years but have shopped at Krieger’s and other stores along that section of Graham Road all that time. I have never encountered any serious traffic jam that would require further widening of the road. Graham Road from St. Rt. 8 all the way over there is in bad condition with large pot holes and serious cracks – a wise use of the money would be to properly repair the existing road.

The widening is unnecessary, is a waste of taxpayer money, and is unfair to the businesses along the stretch of road being widened. I agree Graham Road needs repaved but widening only puts an unnecessary burden on local businesses who have to struggle with a decrease of 75% or more in customer traffic for an entire year or more. Many businesses may go out of business as a result, which means decreased tax collection for the city and less shopping options for local consumers.
